The Suffolk Community Foundation is pleased to announce Suffolk Carers Grant Programme for activities within communities that enable adult unpaid carers to sustain their caring role by supporting their feelings of wellbeing, choice and control.
This grant programme has been created by Suffolk County Council and aims to support those providing unpaid support to family members and friends who are ill, frail, or have physical or mental health or addiction issues.
This funding programme recognises that challenge and seeks to support those who provide this unpaid care.
They are especially interested in submissions that boost independence of carers in their use of technology, whether this is one-to-one coaching or training on use of IT, or giving carers skills and confidence to access support, or keep connected with those they care for via their smart phones, laptops or tablets.
Aims
The aim of their grant-making is to:
- Promote health and wellbeing
- Tackle disadvantage
- Support local solutions to meet local needs
- Promote community cohesion
- Develop sustainable and supportive communities
Themes
The objective of the fund is to enable their adult (18+) unpaid carers supporting adults to sustain their caring role and support their feelings of wellbeing, choice and control by meeting one or more of the following themes:
- Supporting people to identify themselves as carers at an early stage and identify and access the support they need.
- Supporting unpaid carers to maintain their health and wellbeing through learning, employment or leisure activities.
- Supporting unpaid carers to remain mentally and physically well.
Funding Information
- Up to £20,000 for activities within communities that enable their adult unpaid carers to sustain their caring role by supporting their feelings of wellbeing, choice and control.
- The funder is particularly interested in projects that meet one of the following:
- Helping family members and friends recognise their role as unpaid carers at an early stage and identify and access the support they need.
- Enable unpaid carers to access opportunities which sustain and improve their physical and emotional health and wellbeing.
- Support those with caring responsibilities to fulfil their educational and employment potential and build and maintain their social connections.
Eligibility Criteria
Your organisation should have a constitution/governing document/Articles of Association/set of rules to apply for funding and a management committee with a minimum of three independent members. This document will typically show:-
- The charitable aims of your organisation
- The organisation’s powers
- Who can become a member
- How the management committee and officers are elected and their terms of office
- The roles of the different officers of the group (e.g. Treasurer, Chair, Secretary)
- How frequently the management committee meets
- The arrangements for an Annual General Meeting
- How finances are managed
- How any amendments can be made to the group’s constitution
Note: Your constitution must also include a Dissolution Clause i.e. what happens to the group’s assets if it ceases to operate. This clause should state that any assets remaining after the settlement of debts will be transferred to an organisation with similar charitable purposes, and not distributed among members. Articles of Association for CICs must contain a named Asset Lock.
