The Regional English Language Office (RELO) of the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad is seeking outstanding proposals for the Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) Pakistan Support project to provide recruitment, selection, professional development, logistics, follow-on alumni activities, and other in-country support for the Pakistan TEA U.S. Exchange program.
Project Goal: Strengthen English language learning by improving the capacity of Pakistani educators to provide youth with skills to be more competitive in academia and the workforce.
Project Objectives: Conduct a needs analysis of participants and share the results with the TEA U.S. Exchange grantee to inform the training program. Prepare at least 100 Pakistani high school English teachers to participate in the TEA U.S. Exchange as active participants. Develop at least three follow-on activities that cascade the participants’ knowledge in Pakistan.
Project Activities: In support of the six-week TEA U.S. Exchange, the grantee will assist in the recruitment, selection, and other logistics support (domestic transportation, hotel accommodation, the visa process, TOEFL testing, etc.) for a minimum of one hundred (100) high school English teachers, plus alternates. The grantee will assist short-listed candidates to travel to Islamabad and/or Karachi for in-person visa interviews. Additionally, the grantee will organize a minimum of one (1) pre-departure orientation in Islamabad, lasting no more than two (2) days, depending upon the number of exchange cohorts, for the selectees, arranging the selectees domestic travel and meals. The grantee will arrange domestic travel for those participants who need it ahead of their international flights and will give allowances for meals and lodging for those participants. All phases of the TEA Pakistan Support component will be conducted in collaboration with the TEA U.S. Exchange grantee (to be identified by the RELO Office) and the U.S. Embassy RELO Office in Islamabad. Additional responsibilities will be added on an as-needed basis.

Project Audience(s): Full-time Government and Foundation high school English teachers in schools that serve primarily local populations and who have three or more years teaching English in a high school setting. Preference will be given to teachers who are highly motivated to improve education for the students in their community. The indirect audience includes English teachers throughout Pakistan who will benefit when the participants share their newly acquired teaching strategies through in-person and virtual trainings.

- Non-governmental organizations
- Civil society organizations
- Think tanks
- Public and private educational institutions
For-profit entities, even those that may fall into the categories, are not eligible to apply for this funding opportunity.
