The Arthur Vining Davis Foundations (AVDF) is pleased to launch its grant program.
Focus Areas
They accept funding requests in 2 of their 5 Program Areas:
- Private Higher Education: The Private Higher Education Program Area supports colleges and universities that prioritize undergraduate education and emphasize the liberal arts.
- Public Educational Media: The Public Educational Media Program Area supports the production and distribution of film, television, radio, and digital audio programming through public media outlets.
- Interfaith Leadership & Religious Literacy: The Interfaith Leadership & Religious Literacy Program Area supports programming that improves the religious literacy of Americans, or that facilitates understanding, appreciation, and cooperation between individuals and groups across religious traditions.
Duration: Projects supported by the Foundations are typically 1-2 years in duration, but they can be longer or shorter depending on the nature of the activities. They currently do not have a limit on the duration of the grants they award.
Eligibility Criteria
- U.S. Focus: They only support public charities within the United States.
- The Foundations award grants to eligible 501(c) (3) institutions whose work aligns with the Foundations’ Program Areas. They do not provide grants to individuals. Grantee organizations must be based in and operate out of the United States.
Ineligible
The Arthur Vining Davis Foundations will not support scholarships or endowments, or any proposal with indirect costs that exceed 5% of the budget for direct costs. Generally the Foundations do not fund capital projects. In addition, they do not award grants to individuals, or to direct service programs such as housing services and food pantries.
