Deadline: 20-Jul-25
The Lemonaid and ChariTea Foundation is currently accepting grant applications to support entrepreneurial and income-generating initiatives in regions that remain excluded from fair participation in the global economic system.
The Foundation seeks to empower local communities through projects that create sustainable opportunities and address systemic barriers to economic inclusion.
Their funding focuses on several key areas. One of these is Value Chains, recognizing that the economic growth of recent decades has often bypassed large segments of the population.
Another important area is Education; every supported project incorporates some form of educational component, whether formal or informal, covering a wide range of topics.
Advocacy is also a core pillar, as the Foundation believes in the importance of raising awareness and mobilizing resources for under-resourced issues and marginalized communities.
Additionally, Access to Finance—often referred to as financial inclusion—is prioritized, with an emphasis on ensuring individuals and businesses can make use of essential financial services.
The Foundation also supports several cross-cutting themes that align with their broader vision. Gender equity is a key concern, and projects aiming to reduce structural gender inequalities are encouraged. Marginalized populations, including indigenous communities and persons with disabilities, are given particular attention.
The Foundation is open to Innovative approaches, especially pilot projects that test new ideas and methods, with a willingness to learn alongside their partners.
Projects that address Climate and Resource Management by enhancing community resilience to climate shocks and promoting sustainable use of natural resources are also considered a priority.
Grants range from €10,000 to €50,000 per year, with a maximum total of €150,000 over the full project duration.
To be eligible, applicant organizations must be legally registered as a charitable organization, non-profit organization (NPO), or non-governmental organization (NGO) in their home country.
The Foundation only considers applications from organizations based in the following countries: South Africa, Rwanda, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Peru, and in India, only from the regions of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Bihar, West Bengal, Darjeeling, or Sikkim.
Applications will not be considered if they are incomplete, come from organizations not based in the eligible countries, fail to address one of the Foundation’s focus areas, or include discriminatory content.
Proposals involving animal husbandry, including poultry, are also ineligible. Additionally, applications from international organizations or from any organization with an annual budget exceeding €1,000,000 will not be accepted.
