Deadline: 20-Jul-22
The Leeds Community Foundation is inviting applications for the Trauma-Informed Work in Communities grants programme to improve the mental and emotional health of young people in Leeds.
The overall aim of the grants programme is to boost protective factors in children and young people (C&YP) who have experienced, or are at risk of experiencing, adversity. The main focus will be on Community Organisations working with C&YP and families to promote strong, healthy relationships through activities that support the development of relationship & pro-social skills.
Applications are encouraged from organisations who work in more deprived areas, or with groups who face additional challenges, for example care leavers, families facing domestic abuse or racial inequity.
Funding Information
The maximum grant is £20,000 for 2 years. The grant can be used to part-fund or fully-fund a wide range of activities. Some of the grant may also be used for bringing in expertise which adds value to the delivery and outcomes of the project.
Types of Activities
- They do not wish to be prescriptive about the types of activities that can be funded; examples might include activities that directly teach relationship skills, or promote good relationships with trusted adults; promote supportive parenting; fostering a positive peer support group; contributing to the local community, or participating in other positive activities.
- The activity is for organisations to propose, bearing in mind that:
- You will be working with C&YP and/or families who have, or are at risk of, adverse experiences (for example because of domestic and/or relationship abuse, mental health issues, substance abuse in the family; or because of having lived in care; or have experienced racial inequity, or high levels of deprivation). You will be asked to explain in your application which particular group you wish to focus on and why, and show your understanding of approaching this work with children who have experienced/are at risk of trauma.
- You will be asked to work with C&YP and/or families in a trauma-informed way, following the SAMHSA principles of: safety; trustworthiness & transparency; peer support; collaboration & mutuality; empowering voice & choice.
- You will be taking a positive, asset-based, preventative approach that will help to increase protective factors.
- You will be expected to engage with Forum Central’s networks and work closely with the Community & Young People’s Engagement & Development Lead for the Trauma Informed Programme
- You will be asked to participate in a couple of sessions with other grant holders and funders to share and discuss what you have learnt.
