The U.S. Embassy in Uruguay, through the Alianza Cultural Uruguay–Estados Unidos, invites you to submit proposals for a new edition of the U.S. Embassy Fund aimed at supporting initiatives that advance the shared interests of the U.S. and Uruguay.
The Embassy seeks projects that promote democratic stability, regional security, and economic growth, strengthen bilateral cooperation, and align with U.S. foreign policy strategic priorities.
Focus Areas
- They invite project proposals in the following strategic areas:
- Economic Prosperity
- Initiatives that drive economic prosperity, trade, U.S. investment, and economic growth
- Programs that promote economic resilience and foster trade relations while mitigating risks associated with unfair practices
- Programs that address the root causes of migration by enhancing workforce training and skill development in strategic sectors
- STEM training programs that advance technology development, artificial intelligence, big data, and robotics
- Democracy and Leadership Exchanges
- Programs that leverage U.S. strengths through a focus on democratic values and civic participation
- Initiatives promoting media independence, access to reliable information, and resistance to harmful propaganda
- Initiatives that reinforce free-market principles and economic growth
- Exchange activities with U.S. institutions and experts promoting academic and professional excellence
- Security and Safety
- Projects that strengthen local security capacity by combatting transnational criminal organizations, money laundering, and/or trafficking in persons
- Activities that reinforce justice, transparency, accountability, and freedom of expression
- Cybersecurity projects and critical infrastructure protection
- Economic Prosperity

- Minimum per project: USD 20.000
- Maximum per project: USD 50.000

- Project execution period: From July 2025 to July 2026
Eligible Projects
- Examples of Eligible Projects:
- An exchange to the U.S. for Uruguayan leaders looking to, for example, enhance local security and justice capacity, aligned with U.S. interests
- A workshop that brings U.S. expert(s) to Uruguay for a conference on, for example, technology entrepreneurship, international trade and U.S. market access
- A trade mission for up-and-coming business leaders looking to invest in the U.S.
- A forum with a U.S. component on, for example, democracy, press freedom, and disinformation resilience
- A teacher training with a U.S. expert in innovative methodologies such as, for example, project-based learning, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), or AI in education
- A training for security or law enforcement professionals on, for example, promoting the safe and ethical use of technology with the help of experts from the U.S.
Conditions and Requirements
- The Alianza participates as a partner organization responsible for managing funding and monitoring the implementation of selected projects.
- Pre-selected organizations must have a valid UEI registration number to receive funds.
- For-profit companies and entities are not eligible.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Ineligible Activities:
- Exchange scholarships for English language studies
- Partisan political activities
- Research without practical application
- Purchase of furniture, vehicles, or construction
- Exchanges with countries other than the U.S.
- Religious activities
