The U.S. Embassy in The Hague has announced applications for Small Grant Program that advance U.S. foreign policy objectives, purpose of grants are intended for local representatives of civil society, including non-governmental organizations and universities (non-profit organizations only).
Priority Themes
- Innovation and Entrepreneurship – Programming that highlights American innovation and entrepreneurship, security of critical and emerging technologies, and partnership between the United States and the Netherlands in fields related to technology, cyber security, and entrepreneurship.
- The Environment & Climate – Proposals that showcase U.S. public and/or private sector efforts to address climate change, or amplify joint environmental efforts between the U.S. and the Netherlands.
- Countering Malign Influence – Activities related to monitoring, exposing, and countering foreign state and non-state disinformation efforts, including illegal, unfair, and coercive economic practices. Activities may also include those that advance positive narratives about the United States delivered by credible voices.
- Military & Security Partnership – Programs that increase public understanding of and support for the shared military and security priorities of the U.S. and the Netherlands.
- Transatlantic Values – Initiatives that promote an accurate and positive image of the United States and the transatlantic partnership, highlighting shared history and values, including diversity and inclusion, human rights, and democracy.
Funding Information
- Most grants considered are between $5,000 and $25,000.
- Applicants should consider their budgets carefully and submit a budget commensurate with their project goals. While the Public Affairs Section will consider proposals up to $50,000, projects that are smaller in scope are more likely to be awarded.
Eligibility Criteria
- The U.S. Embassy The Hague encourages applications from all sectors: committed and organized civil-society organizations, local representatives of civil society, think tanks, non-governmental organizations, academic institutions.
- The U.S. Embassy The Hague encourages applicants to provide cost-sharing from additional sources in support of this project. The U.S. Embassy also encourages projects that use highly skilled volunteers as an element of cost-sharing. Applications should explain clearly other likely sources of funding and how the volunteers will be used.
