The U.S. Embassy Tashkent Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations or institutions to submit applications to manage and implement the Embassy’s English Language Small Grants Program (ELSGP).
The ELSGP aims to promote and improve English language education across Uzbekistan through innovative and creative programming proposed by individuals and organizations.
Program Support
Applications for ELSGP must support initiatives such as:
- improving the quality of English Language teaching and learning in the country;
- identifying key factors that promote innovative and interactive English teaching methods;
- training new generations of English Language teachers;
- motivating students to excel at English learning; and
- establishing English programs that support economic growth and development.

Successful proposals would achieve the following objectives:
- Objective 1: Increase English language education opportunities through the promotion and expansion of the ELSGP across Uzbekistan
- Objective 2: Improve the quality of English language learning and teaching instruction by supporting innovative English language projects
- Objective 3: Increase English language and critical thinking skills of secondary school and university students
- Objective 4: Establish an English language program that aims to increase economic opportunities, supporting overall economic growth and development.

Successful proposals would achieve the following objectives:
Eligibility Criteria
- The U.S. Embassy Tashkent encourages applications from the U.S. and Uzbekistan registered not-for-profit, civil society/non-governmental organizations, and educational institutions with at least three years of programming experience in administering educational programs and/or teaching English.
- In consultation with the Embassy, the grantee is responsible for advertising the ELSGP funding opportunity, vetting applications, communicating with applicants, managing the full grant process with multiple applicants, financial reporting, and monitoring and evaluation of the approved ELSGP grants.
- Organizations with previous experience and a capacity of working with educational institutions and governmental organizations on a national level will be given priority.
- This experience should be documented in the organization’s proposal.
- A copy of the organization’s registration should be provided with the proposal application. U.S.-based organizations should submit a copy of their IRS determination letter.
- Uzbekistan-based organizations should submit a copy of their certificate of registration from the appropriate government organization.
