The United Nations Development Program in Kazakhstan within the framework of the project “Promoting Resilient Communities to Prevent Violent Extremism in Central Asia (PVE Phase II)” is announcing a competition for grants among non-governmental/non-commercial organizations for creating more inclusive, gender-sensitive and peaceful societies.
The purpose of the grant is to support youth initiatives through non-governmental/non-profit public organizations to involve young people in making socially important decisions at the local level in order to eliminate such pressure factors as a feeling of disability to be heard, a feeling of disability to influence the decision-making process, a feeling of powerlessness, lack of advantages in the existing social infrastructure, lack of conditions for decent employment.

- Examples of possible areas of action are given below, however, they are not limited to:
- innovative educational centers;
- sports grounds;
- cultural and leisure centers;
- coworking centers;
- volunteer centers;
- creating conditions for increasing the potential, improving professional and personal skills of vulnerable youth, promoting decent employment;
- centers of creative industries;
- restoration of social infrastructure, etc.
- conducting trainings to increase the potential, improve professional and personal skills of vulnerable youth.

Funding Information
- It is intended to finance one application with a project budget of no more than 3,000,000 (two million nine hundred thousand) tenge.
Conditions
- Conditions of the competition:
- Since the project is aimed at strengthening local communities of target settlements (Kyzylorda region – Kyzylorda city, Karmakshinsky and Kazalinsky districts and Mangistau region – Aktau and Zhanaozen cities, Beineu district), only non-governmental organizations registered in Kyzylorda or Mangistau regions can participate in the competition /non-profit public organizations registered in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- applications from organizations not registered in the Republic of Kazakhstan will not be considered; political groups engaged in active political activities; commercial organizations;
- The declared project idea and project activity must comply with the statutory goals and statutory activities of the organization;
- Project work should not duplicate the activities of an organization funded by other donors, but may complement them;
- Grants are issued subject to co-financing and/or non-monetary contribution from the organization.
Requirements
- Basic requirements for grant applications:
- be interconnected with national and local programs, regional development priorities;
- be aimed at involving local vulnerable youth in target communities;
- be sustainable in terms of project duration and strengthening of the local community;
- lay down a mechanism to ensure the institutional and financial sustainability of the project after the end of its financing.
Ineligibility Criteria
- The Competition does not support projects aimed at:
- conducting scientific research; development of various techniques;
- writing, publishing manuscripts in a printing house (as the main activity of the project);
- publishing magazines and newspapers (as the main business idea of the project);
- carrying out political and religious activities, supporting ethnic groups, etc.
