The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is inviting Expressions of Interest on the topic – Increasing the public awareness on the plight of refugees, asylum seekers and other persons.
The objective of this call is to strengthen solidarity and curb intolerance towards refugees, asylum-seekers, and other persons in need of international protection, mainly among the local population most affected by the presence of refugees and migrants, but also in towns around the country.
Activities
The applicants have the freedom to choose the method, activities and planned outcomes of them. The methods may include, but are not limited to,
- educational sessions,
- exhibitions,
- workshops,
- round tables,
- collaborative projects,
- support for local and central initiatives coming from schools, youth clubs,
- grass-roots NGOs,
- volunteer networks
Target Groups
Target groups of these activities are the local population along the migration route in the country (women, men, youth and the unemployed), with a specific focus on the towns and villages on the refuge/migrant route, from Gevgelija to Kumanovo. In addition, project activities should also cover other locations in the country.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be:
- A legal entity. The NGO or Foundation should be a registered body under applicable State Law. Registration should be for at least 2 years
- An organization becomes eligible as long as the composition of the governing body has less than 50% representation from Project implementing department or units.
- A non-political and secular organization with no affiliation to political parties
- The organization or the staff members should not belong to any group or party associated with crimes against humanity, war crimes and particular organizations mentioned under the list established by the United Nations
