The Prevent Cancer Foundation is seeking Proposals for the 2021 Cancer Prevention and Early Detection Community Grants Program for organizations that will develop new or implement existing community projects/programs in cancer prevention and early detection in rural or urban areas.
The goal is to provide the resources needed to fund vital communitylevel activities in cancer prevention (including education or vaccination) or screening. The proposed projects must be aligned with the mission to support community projects or programs across the United States (including tribes and territories) that focus on helping to prevent cancer or find it earlier and that demonstrate a potential to make a positive impact in underserved communities.
Funding Information
The Foundation will provide $25,000 one-year grants.
Eligible Projects
Examples of eligible projects for the 2021 grants cycle:
- Projects focused on mandated guidelines-driven screening recommendations (breast, cervical, colorectal or lung cancer) issued by the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF), the American Cancer Society (ACS) or the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN)
- Cancer education projects focused on raising awareness and/or making referrals for guidelines-driven screenings
- Vaccination projects for HPV or hepatitis B or testing or education projects (with referrals) for hepatitis B or hepatitis C
Eligibility Criteria
The following organizations are eligible to apply for a 2021 Community Grants award:
- Nonprofit organizations that are exempt under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code
- Independent sponsored projects of a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization acting as a fiscal sponsor
- Government and public agencies
- Tax-exempt tribal organizations and fraternal or social organizations
- Organizations based in the United States, including tribes or territories. Groups located outside the U.S. are not eligible to apply.
- Organizations described above must be located outside the Washington, DC, metro area to be eligible for the 2021 grants.
- Only one application may be submitted by an organization.
- Organizations previously funded by the Prevent Cancer Foundation must have satisfactorily completed their grants before being eligible to apply for new grants.
- Both small independent organizations and ones which are part of larger “parent” organizations are eligible to apply. Applicants must demonstrate how a grant award would provide needed support for vital community-level activities in cancer prevention (including education or vaccination) or screening, in underserved communities.
