The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has announced the applications for the GEF Small Grants Programme to finance environmental projects in the Bahamas.
The GEF Small Grants Programme (GEF SGP), implemented by the UNDP, provides financial and technical support to communities and CSOs to meet the overall objective of “global environmental benefits secured through community-based initiatives and actions”.
Priority Areas
Priority areas for funding are:
- Biodiversity Conservation;
- Land Degradation & Sustainable Forest Management;
- Climate Change (Mitigation);
- Chemicals (POPs – persistent organic pollutants) and Waste;
- Plastics;
- CSO-Government-Private Sector Policy and Planning Dialogue Platforms; and
- Enhancing Social Inclusion.
Funding Information
SGP funds “small grants” up to a maximum of US$50,000, in addition, a “strategic project” provides funds up to a maximum of US$150,000 to allow for scaling up and to support initiatives that cover many communities, either within in a critical landscape or seascape, or towards a thematic priority.
Eligibility Criteria
Qualified entities are Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) which are invited to submit proposals.
