The U.S. Department of State and Office of Acquisitions Management is pleased to announce the Public outreach to address demand for endangered and protected species in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Program to develop innovative outreach and behavior change campaigns to highlight risks to endangered and protected species and reduce demand for TCM products promoting and/or containing these species.
To raise public awareness of and discourage the use of endangered and protected species in TCM. This may include public awareness and/or behavior change campaigns, outreach to traditional medicine practitioners and consumers, or other relevant efforts and stakeholders.
Objectives
- Increase awareness of the wide variety of negative consequences of the use of endangered and protected species in traditional medicine in both established and emerging markets.
- Reduce demand for traditional medicine that includes ingredients from endangered and protected species.

Main Activities
To achieve the goals and expected results, the program could include the following:
- Public outreach, education, and awareness campaigns which may include, but are not limited to, billboards or other public signage, advertisements in traditional and online media, interactive content and graphics for social media platforms in the countries/areas of focus, educational videos recorded by high-level government officials, celebrities, other prominent figures in society, leading conservationists, etc.
- Outreach, webinars, and workshops to build capacity of TCM practitioners, consumers, and other proponents of TCM to identify wildlife trafficking risks and encourage buy-in from the traditional medicine industry to eliminate the use of endangered and protected species
- Survey populations (TCM practitioners, consumers, and other relevant stakeholders) to understand the motivations behind TCM use and the most effective means of changing public perception such that use of endangered and protected species in TCM is no longer supported.

Eligibility Criteria
- Eligibility is limited to U.S. non-profit/nongovernmental organizations subject to section 501 (c) (3) of the U. S. tax code, foreign not-for-profit/nongovemmental organizations, U.S. and foreign educational institutions, and public international organizations.
- Technically eligible submissions are those which:
