Southern Black Girls and Women’s Consortium’s Black Girls Defense Fund is dedicated to supporting organizations who are advocating and building movements for the rights and safety of Black girls, women, and femme identifying youth in the South.
This Resistance and Resilience mini grant will provide financial support to organizations fighting against dehumanization and protecting the fundamental rights of Black girls and women in the South.
Funding Information
- With grants of up to $2,000, this funding opportunity is designed to strengthen community-led efforts addressing the unique challenges Black girls face that include adultification, dehumanization, and violence.
Eligibility Criteria
- To qualify for this grant, applicants must:
- Be working to support Black girls, women or femme identifying youth
- Operate in one of the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, or Texas
- Be a 501(c)(3) organization or have fiscal sponsorship by another non-profit organization
- Have a new or existing program, project, advocacy campaign, or other initiative that addresses the vulnerability of Black girls and/or women in the South
