The Great Smokies Health Foundation is pleased to announce the opening of its Request for Applications (RFA) for its 2022 Community Grant cycle, formerly known as the Thrift Shop Grant program.
The mission of the Great Smokies Health Foundation is to improve the health status of the residents of Jackson, Swain, Macon, and Graham counties through investment and collaboration focused on health, wellness, and prevention. Over the past seven years the Foundation has provided thousands in grant funding to over 30 agencies and programs located in their service area.
The Great Smokies Health Foundation is providing two virtual information sessions on the 2022 Community Grant application process for both current/prior grantees as well as eligible organizations seeking funding from the Foundation for the first time. While attendance at these sessions is not mandatory, advance registration is required.

Funding Information
Great Smokies Health Foundation Community Grants are intended to be one-time awards of up to $5,000.
Funding Guidelines
- Funding must be fully expended within one year of receipt of grant funds.
- All responses to the application form must be contained within the space provided.
- Applications that exceed the maximum length or are incomplete will not be considered.
- All requested information and documentation must be attached.
Eligibility Criteria
- Non-profits, governmental entities, and educational institutions in the specific service area of Jackson, Swain, Macon and Graham Counties in North Carolina are invited to apply for the 2022 Community Grant Program.
- Nonprofit organizations must be compliant with state charitable solicitation statutes, including having a current Charitable Solicitation License issued by the North Carolina Secretary of State.
