The Onion Foundation Grants Program is now open to support organizations or projects that align with the mission priority areas of Arts & Environment within the state of Maine.
Vision
Support organizations that empower people in their communities to live healthy and vibrant lives by:
- Protecting the environment through education and research
- Removing barriers and creating access to outdoor recreational experiences
- Providing resources to adapt to a changing climate
- Cultivating and educating future environmental stewards and leaders
- Building healthy food systems by providing access to locally produced food
- Promoting access to local music, theater, dance, and visual arts
- Preserving the many strong art and music programs that exist today
- Establishing new art and music programs for the future
- Advancing music and the arts education
- Creating community-focused participatory arts experiences

The Foundation values organizations that strive to:

Funding Information
Grants range between $5,000 and $20,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- To apply for and receive a grant your organization must be a 501(c)(3) public charity as designated by the IRS, operating under a fiscal sponsor who is a qualified 501(c)(3) public charity, a public education institution, or a Maine municipality.
- The organization and/or the project must be based in Maine and focused on benefitting Maine’s people.
