The United States of America African Development Foundation (USADF) invites African cooperatives, producer groups, and businesses to submit funding applications for funding grants and local assistance of innovative solutions that will increase the capacity of organizations to increase incomes, create jobs, improve producer incomes, and ensure sustainable market-driven growth.
Sectors
USADF is accepting applications for funding in the following sectors and countries:
- Burkina Faso: cashew, honey/beeswax, corn, onions, rice, shea, tomatoes
- Burundi: coffee, palm oil, potato, rice
- Kenya: fishing, livestock, maize, rice, sorghum
- Liberia: cassava, cocoa, goat, palm oil, rice, vegetables
- Rwanda: beans, coffee, maize, rice, tea
- South Sudan: cassava, coffee, maize, shea, sorghum
- Senegal: cassava, millet, maize , vegetables , bananas, livestock
- Somalia: fishing, frankincense, vocational training/youth employment, livestock, rice, sesame
- Uganda: cassava, coffee, maize, rice
- Tanzania: beans, coffee , cotton, horticulture, maize, rice
- Zambia: hybrid agro-energy, dairy products, fishing, oilseeds, rice
Funding Information
Not to exceed an amount of 250,000 US dollars.
Criteria
- The organization must demonstrate that its members have been able to work together satisfactorily for at least 2 years , that it has a minimum of 200 active members or suppliers, and that it has the capacity to manage funds efficiently. grant.
- Owners and managers must agree on the nature of the problem to be solved and demonstrate a commitment that benefits their communities .
- The organization must have a foundation of operational management and management control for at least 2 years to demonstrate its ability to manage and report on USADF funds.
- The organization must be 100% African owned and managed .
- USADF does not accept funding requests from non-governmental organizations ( NGOs ) and intermediaries. The organization must be an agricultural cooperative, a group of producers, processors or a company.
- Successful funding applications must demonstrate that they:
- Have a clear market opportunity that will increase sales and increase revenue.
- Have a clearly defined plan on how they will increase sales and revenue in 2-4 years.
- Can make a significant contribution to the realization of the project in cash or in kind.
- Can directly impact the lives of hundreds of people and community members.
- Can identify growth avenues for post-USADF funding.
- Special consideration will be given to organizations that incorporate innovative strategies using new technologies and approaches, including complementary financial resources and information technology.
- Special consideration will also be given to women-owned and managed organizations and funding applications promoting youth.
