The United States Agency for International Development (USAID/Burma) is seeking applications for a Cooperative Agreement from qualified US and non-US organizations to implement the President’s Malaria Initiative Eliminate Malaria (PMI-EM) Activity.
The purpose of this Activity is to contribute to the elimination of indigenous transmission of Plasmodium falciparum malaria by 2025 and put Myanmar on the path to eliminate all human malaria by 2030.
Outcomes
- Enhanced malaria case surveillance, monitoring, and evaluation systems at all levels;
- Improved access to and quality of malaria case management;
- Improved access to and quality of vector control and prevention interventions for at-risk populations;
- Strengthened health systems and program management at all levels.
Funding Information
Subject to funding availability and at the discretion of the Agency, USAID seeks to provide up to $30M in total USAID funding over a 5-year period.
Geographic Focus
PMI-EM will support malaria elimination activities in four States/Regions: Kayin State, Rakhine State, Sagaing Region, and Tanintharyi Region. The Township is the administrative unit for malaria elimination, and the Townships to be supported under this Activity will be finalized after consultations with the NMCP, States/Regions, and malaria donors/partners. PMI-EM is expected to provide a full package of support to each Township selected in coordination and collaboration with other partners (including non-state actors) working in the Township to ensure comprehensive coverage. The activities in the package will vary by Township, depending on the context and where the Township is along the elimination continuum.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility for this NOFO is not restricted. USAID welcomes applications from organizations that have not previously received financial assistance from USAID.
