The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is seeking applications for a Cooperative Agreement from qualified entities to implement the USAID Fighting Malaria with Social and Behavioral Change (FMSBC) program.
The purpose of this activity is to increase provision of evidence-based, quality malaria SBC interventions in targeted areas to meet the goal of increasing adoption and maintenance of malaria prevention and treatment behaviors in target areas by increasing technical skills and knowledge of MoH and local stakeholders to design and implement state-of-art SBC interventions at all levels of the health systems, increasing capacity of MoH and local stakeholders to generate and use SBC malaria data to inform service delivery, and increasing managerial skills of MoH and local stakeholders for efficient and effective implementation of SBC malaria interventions at all levels of the health system. The purpose contributes to USAID/Mozambique’s Development Objective of healthier and better educated Mozambicans.
Objectives
The high-level intended impact of this activity is to increase adoption and maintenance of malaria prevention and treatment behaviors in targeted areas of Mozambique. The recipient is expected to contribute to shifts in priority behaviors and enabling social norms including, but not limited to:
- Correct and consistent use and care of insecticide-treated nets;
- Prompt and appropriate care-seeking for fever;
- Early and regular antenatal care attendance;
- Acceptance of intermittent preventive treatment in pregnancy, when offered;
- Acceptance of indoor residual spraying, when offered;
- Adherence to national testing and treatment guidelines;
- Adherence to malaria in pregnancy guidelines; and
- Acceptance of novel prevention interventions.
Funding Information
USAID intends to provide up to $17 million in total USAID funding over a five-year period.

- USAID welcomes applications from organizations that have not previously received financial assistance from USAID.
