The United States Government, represented by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)/Uzbekistan, is seeking input from interested organizations, individuals, and potential offerors who may provide comments, input, opinions, and recommendations in response to the proposed questions.
The purpose of the five-year Uzbekistan Youth Work Readiness and Entrepreneurship Activity is to increase the ability of Uzbek youth in grades 8 -11 to participate in the labor market. This Activity seeks to equip youth with necessary work-readiness, as well as soft and entrepreneurial skills, through improved quality and relevance of curriculum and engaging teaching practices in school-based and afterschool programs in a strengthened enabling environment.
Objectives
The Activity goal will be achieved through the following objectives:
- Improved quality of school-based economics and entrepreneurship programs;
- Improved quality of afterschool entrepreneurship, soft skills, and work readiness programs; and
- Strengthened enabling environment to support and engage youth.
Funding Information
- Award Ceiling: $8,000,000;
- Award Floor: $1.
Questions
USAID is providing support to Uzbekistan in strengthening the skills development of youth in schools in the areas of entrepreneurship, soft skills, and workforce development. The submitted information must not exceed four (4) pages, including annexes/attachments. The submitted response should include the following information:
- The questions or specific areas requiring clarity in PD.
- Recommendations for considerations/improvements, referencing a place/section in the PD.
- Specifically, please consider the following questions in your response:
- Describe what you see as the best development practices in each of the described objectives.
- What additional objectives, if any, should be added to support the current efforts taken by the Ministry of Public Education in the development of entrepreneurship, soft skills, and work readiness in schools?
- What role can the private sector play in the development of entrepreneurship, soft skills, and work readiness at the school level?
- Please describe youth-focused activities under other organizations that were not mentioned in the PD and that have a track record for success in Uzbekistan or countries similar in developing entrepreneurship, work readiness, and soft skills in youth.
- Please describe approaches to ensure female, marginalized and vulnerable youth are integrated into workforce development activities in a country similar to Uzbekistan. What challenges to inclusion exist in Uzbekistan and what marginalized groups should USAID/Uzbekistan consider? Please provide examples in Uzbekistan or countries with similar political-economic conditions.
- What is the capacity/experience of your organization to address strengthening entrepreneurship, soft skill, and work readiness development in youth?
- Describe how the key factors of sustainability and gender inclusion can be addressed.
