Arizona Office of Tourism is inviting applications for Visit Arizona Initiative (VAI) Outdoor Recreation Revitalization Grant Program to strengthen local economies, protect environmental and cultural resources, create a meaningful visitor experience, and enhance the quality of life for all Arizonans through tourism collaboration, promotion, and development.
The Visit Arizona Outdoor Recreation Revitalization Grant provides funding for entities to engage in marketing, implement sustainability efforts, and/or make infrastructure improvements to help accelerate industry recovery.
Your project should align with the key initiatives below in order to be considered competitive.
- Demonstrate alignment with the Arizona Office of Tourism’s (AOT) mission, the Statewide Tourism Industry Recovery Plan or 3-Year Strategic Plan.
- Respond to the negative economic impacts of the public health emergency
- Increase Arizona tourism and support tourism-related jobs as the State recovers from the pandemic
- Provide measurable metrics for successful project implementation
- Enhance Arizona’s profile as a world-renowned destination

Funding Information

Awards are capped at a maximum of $250,000 per attraction
- $250,000-$100,000 – 20% Funding Match Required
- $99,999-$50,000 – 15% Funding Match Required
- $50,000-$5,000 – 10% Funding Match Required
Eligible Expenses
- Tourism marketing hard costs
- On-site upgrades to the attraction that improves accessibility and customer experience
- Sustainability efforts
Eligible Project
Eligible projects must address the following:
- Describe an appropriate response to the public health emergency or its negative economic impacts, including aid to impacted industries such as tourism, travel, and hospitality.
- Provide tourism, travel, and hospitality industry-focused scope of work that will respond to the negative economic impacts of the pandemic.
Eligibility Criteria
- Non-state-owned outdoor attractions
- Tribal attractions
- For-profit and nonprofit outdoor attraction entities and associations (nonprofit outdoor attraction entities will receive priority)
