Applications are now open for the Variety EduKids Community Grants Program that aims at assisting organisations working directly with WA children who are sick, disadvantaged or living with disability.
This grant is open specifically to assist children in receiving essential education by providing funding for vital ‘back to school’ equipment such as stationery, uniforms, technology and more. They provide assistance for items that are not accessible through government funding or alternative services.
Funding Information
- Items must be directly related / impacting the children linked with request and organisation.
- Requests can be for shared resources and/or items that will be helping individuals only.
- Funding is for equipment / physical items only directly related to ‘Back to School’ requirements.
- Book / school list items (stationery / text books etc.)
- Uniforms / clothing items
- Mandatory technology
- Applicants can request up to $5,000
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for a Variety EduKids Community Grant the following criteria must be met:
- applicant is a school, community group or organisation
- children being supported are aged 4-17
- children being supported are disadvantaged (financially, geographically, socially), have a disability or long-term health condition
- children being supported are enrolled and will attend primary or high school in 2022
- children’s household income should fall within the guide
- equipment must not be available through government funding or alternative sources
Ineligible Requests
- Non-tangible items
- Non-essential education related items
- Experiences / excursions
- Retrospective expenses
Additional Information
- Community Kids (EduKids) Grants is open from Nov to Jan.
- Submissions are reviewed by the Kids Support Committee; a group of qualified professionals representing allied health, community and education sectors.
- If successful, full funding is not guaranteed.
- It may be more appropriate for technology requests to be applied for by individuals due to the higher cost per item, however, they understand this isn’t always appropriate. If this is the case, you can apply for a higher contribution.
- Approved outcomes are not guaranteed, each application is assessed on its merit and contributions may be offered in lieu of full funding at the committees discretion.
