The Auckland Council is pleased to announce a call for applications for the Waitemata Accommodation Grant Program.
Priorities
The Council welcomes grant applications that align to the following priorities:
- Provide spaces and places that enable the diverse communities to connect, and feel welcome.
- Ensure all members of the community have access to shelter and warmth.
- Empower the communities by supporting community-led initiatives.
- Encourage access to and participation in local events and arts activities.
- Ensure the communities have opportunities to lead active and healthy lifestyles.
- Ensure the parks, open spaces and recreation facilities meet the needs of the current and future residents.
- Deliver high-quality facilities that encourage active and healthy lifestyles.
- Improve air and water quality and the health of the waterways.
- Support Waitemata being a low carbon community.
- Increase the urban forest and enhance biodiversity.
- People have adopted low carbon lifestyles and live sustainably.
- Empower the communities to enhance their resilience to disasters and the impact of climate change.
- Regenerate the natural areas to enhance biodiversity.
- Identify and protect places with heritage and distinctive character.
- Reinforce neighbourhood character and improve town centres.
- Improve the accessibility and connectivity of the transport network.
- Improve safety for all road users.
- Support the business associations to drive local growth and innovation.
- Empower and support start-up businesses and social enterprises.
- Increase the prosperity of the town centres.
- A strong and healthy international education sector.

Funding Information
Grant value: $2500 – $20,000
Eligibility Criteria
- You are a community organisation, as outlined in the Community Grants Policy.
- Accommodation costs are for the following financial year starting 1 July.
- You need to provide evidence of the accommodation costs.
- The community organisation has been operating for a full financial year before the application date and must provide its last full year financial statements and audited accounts.
- The accommodation is located in and benefits the Waitemata Local Board area.
- If you are requesting a grant for a venue that has a council community lease or community occupancy agreement, you need to verify the council’s approval for the sub-lease or hireage.
