The West Central Initiative (WCI) has announced the Resiliency Fund Equitable Region grants to support BIPOC (Black people, Indigenous people and people of colour)-led and/or serving nonprofits in their response to and recovery from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Resiliency Fund Equitable Region Grants: Efforts that promote equitable communities and an equitable region – particularly racial equity.
Funding Information
- A grant request in the range of $3,000 to $10,000 is suggested.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for an Equitable Region grant your organization must:
- Be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, school or unit of government (including Tribal government or division) or must be fiscally sponsored by another organization with this status.
- Serve people of WCI’s geography which includes 9 counties – Becker, Clay, Douglas, Grant, Otter Tail, Pope, Stevens, Traverse, Wilkin and the portion of the White Earth Nation in Becker.
- Be BIPOC-led and/or serving.
They are particularly interested in receiving applications from small nonprofits that do not typically pursue or receive grant funding. Only one application per organization will be considered.
Evaluation Criteria
They’ll use the criteria below to review proposals. Their desire to spread awards across the region may result in a proposal being considered for funding even if it does not fully meet all the criteria.
- COVID-19 Response: The requested funds will be used by the applicant to help their organization or the Black people, Indigenous people and people of color they serve respond to and recover from the impact of COVID-19.
- Racial Equity Focus: The mission and proposed activities of the applicant reflect that they are working towards a community that is equitable, particularly with respect to race.
- Inclusive Community Engagement: The proposed project engages BIPOC populations and advances new community collaborations. The funded work will build and strengthen community partnerships and mobilize community members, particularly those impacted by racial disparities.
- Outcomes: The results of the proposed work are clearly stated. The applicant has defined the quantitative (countable) and/or qualitative (describable) measures they will use to gauge their success.

- Submit your applications through WCI’s online eGrant system.
- eGrant does not automatically save your progress on the online form, so it is VERY important that you save your work frequently.
