The Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation has launched its Wesleyan Foundation Large Grants Program.
Focus Areas
- Education: projects that address positive social mobility, disadvantage and raising Initiatives that develop individuals’ skills and employability are also of high importance.
- Health: projects that address mental and physical well-being and create opportunities for (please note that this fund prefers to fund higher level issues rather than preventative / lower level interventions)
- Social: Wesleyan wish to champion projects that develop conscious inclusion so will prioritise projects that bring the community together.
- Other priorities: Projects that can demonstrate an ongoing sustainability, both from a financial and an environment perspective. In addition, projects which build in an element to help reduce an organisation’s carbon footprint.
Funding Information
- Grants between £ 2,000 to £10,000 are available and must be spent within a year.
Note: if you have been funded by Wesleyan Large Grants, you will not be able to reapply for funding for 3 years after the award of the initial grant, and following receipt of satisfactory monitoring.
Eligible Projects
- Salary, equipment or volunteer costs that are clearly budgeted and only used for the project.
- Start-up costs for a newproject or organisation
- To extend or develop an existing project
Please Note
- Grants can be made for a wide range of purposes including consumables, project or activity costs.
- No more than 10% of the project costs can be assigned to operational/core costs.
- Your application value must be no more than 20% of the organisation’s annual income.
- Your organisation’s income level must be less than £500,000, as shown in your most recent annual accounts.
Geographic Areas
- Grants are available across the whole of Leicestershire.
Eligibility Criteria
- You can apply if you operate in Leicester, Leicestershire or Rutland and are one of the following:
- Registered charity
- Constituted Community group ( e.g. a committee, a constitution with charitable purposes and a bank account in the group name)
- Company Limited by Guarantee with charitable aims
- Community Interest Companies (CIC)
- Charitable Incorporated Organisations (CIO)
- Social Enterprises(including some co-operatives, community benefit societies, limited co by guarantee.)
- Parish Councils(for non-statutory funded work)
- PTAs
- Faith based organisations(provided that the grant benefits the wider community and is not intended to influence people’s religious choices or to promote a particular belief system).
- Funding to charitable companies or CIOs is restricted to funding their charitable objectives only.
- NB –any national charities would need to be able to demonstrate that they have a local branch. This would include a local bank account, finances, and demonstration of fundraising and delivery in the local area only.
