The Wolfson Foundation is seeking applications to award grants to support and promote excellence in the fields of science and medicine, the arts and humanities, education and health and disability.
The foundation was founded in 1935. By its 60th anniversary in 2015 over £800 million had been awarded in grants (£1.7 billion in real terms). Over 10,000 projects have been funded.
Funding Information: The foundation doesn’t generally fund projects where the total cost is below £15,000 (or, in some cases, £10,000).
Eligibility Criteria
- The foundation generally only fund capital projects (buildings/refurbishment, equipment) and only award grants to charities or organisations with charitable status (or equivalent).
- It fund within four main programme areas, and you will find more details on eligibility criteria within the relevant area: Science & Medicine; Arts & Humanities; Education; Health & Disability.
How to Apply
Application of Wolfson Foundation is of two stage program:
- Stage 1: the eligibility of the project is assessed to ensure it fits one of our current areas of funding.
- Stage 2: applications are subject to independent expert (or ‘peer’) review. While peer review is most commonly associated with the assessment of academic research, we use reviewers across each of our programmes. They are selected as experts in their field who are qualified to provide an informed and impartial review.
