The United States Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, through the Office of Public Affairs, is pleased to announce a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the Women’s Empowerment Small Grants Program.
Objective
This program aims eventually to result in more active engagement of women in all spheres of life like politics, economy, academia and civil society in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Themes
Projects should deal with one of the following themes:
- Advancing women’s participation in the economic life of BiH in business, the arts, law, healthcare, science, and other sectors. (proposals may not include vocational training)
- Advancing women’s participation in politics and amplifying women’s voices and leadership on issues that affect citizens of BiH
- Increasing the potential of girls and young women to become leaders in their schools, communities, and country
- Economic empowerment/security of victims of gender-based violence
- Projects that create behavior change or improved access related to women’s health issues
They particularly welcome proposals for projects that go beyond awareness building to creating behavioral and systemic change. They also encourage proposals that build solidarity among women from different cities, political parties, or ethnic groups.
Funding Information
- Total Available Funding: USD 275,000
- Award Amounts: Awards may range from USD 1,000 to USD 50,000.
- Length of Performance Period: 12 months
- Number of Awards Anticipated: At least 10 depending on amount of each grant
Participants and Audiences
Civil society, media, government. They specially encourage civil society organizations from smaller and remote communities to apply for this program.
Eligibility Criteria
- Non-government, non-profit organizations (including think tanks, civil society organizations), educational institutions and independent media that are based and legally registered in Bosnia and Herzegovina are eligible to apply.
- American or other donor country organizations and individuals are not eligible for grants under this program.
- Grants are generally awarded only to organizations.
