Applications are now open for the Your West Innovation Fund to support and nurture innovative projects that contribute to community wellbeing and primary education.
Focus Areas
- Improving the lives of young people
- There are limited community amenities for children and young people plus a need for more places and opportunities to connect.
- Children and young people’s mental wellbeing requires support. All children and young people should be able to thrive. The Trusts will fund initiatives that:
- Increase access to opportunities for children and young people.
- Are strengths-based and informed by the principles of positive youth development.
- Connected, resilient & thriving communities
- The Trusts have a role to help build the capacity and capability of the community to respond to the impacts of climate change. The Trusts value the contribution that community organisations and groups make to the wellbeing, vibrancy and connection of communities. The Trusts have a key role to support their resilience and capability.
- Sustainable environments
- The natural environment is unique and a taonga that requires enhancing and protection. The Trusts will support organisations and projects focused on:
- Enhancing the natural environment.
- Increasing community access to the natural environment.
- A just transition to a low carbon society.
- The natural environment is unique and a taonga that requires enhancing and protection. The Trusts will support organisations and projects focused on:
- Partnering with Māori & supporting Pacific communities
- The Trusts wish to support the aspirations of Iwi and Māori. Iwi and Māori wish to have high trust funding relationships and to determine their own priorities for action. The Trusts will be a trusted funding partner to support positive outcomes for Māori. The Trusts also want to work alongside Pacific groups and organisations to support aspirations of Pacific communities.
Funding Information
- It is capped at $20,000 as typically they receive applications from many organisations across The West.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications are open to the following groups, clubs and/or organisations within the Portage Licensing Trust’s and the Waitakere Licensing Trust’s (collectively known as The Trusts) boundaries in West Auckland and/or who predominantly affect the community of West Auckland:
- The applicant must demonstrate its charitable purpose which can be fulfilled if the applicant:
- Charities Register
- Charitable Trust Register
- Incorporated Society Register
- Marae
- Statutory Body
- Education Providers
- Umbrella organisations (with charitable status or purpose) acting as fiscal sponsor on behalf of another group, where the initiative for which funding is sought has a charitable purpose.
- Applicants not shown above and limited liability companies that do not have charitable status must clearly articulate the charitable purpose of the initiative for which funding is sought.
- The applicant must demonstrate its charitable purpose which can be fulfilled if the applicant:
- Eligible applicants also include groups affiliated to a regional or national body or an umbrella organisation where funds will be used by those groups to benefit people within The Trusts boundaries.
