The Wipro Foundation is delighted to seek applications for its Education Fellowship Program to support capacity building of important actors in the school education system to bring about desired reforms.
They firmly believe that education is an enabler of social change. They envision a democracy where every citizen is empowered.
Their notion of good education focuses on the holistic development of the child. This process encompasses multiple dimensions, including cognitive, social, emotional, physical and ethical abilities.
This journey of development must help fulfil and expand their potential, as they become active, contributing and concerned citizens of the world. Learning-to-learn, critical thinking, problem-solving, conceptual understanding, etc., are some of the other important attainments that an effective education system must foster in its learners.
The Wipro Education Fellowship Program has been designed to contribute to the systemic improvement of Indian school education. It does this by supporting early-stage CSOs focused on school education.
Given the size, diversity and complexity of the country, they believe that there is a need for a large and vibrant ecosystem of educational organizations, to make an impact on the school education system.
Objective
Its objective is to support the creation and development of a significant number of new educational organizations. They hope that these can then contribute meaningfully, and in a sustained manner, to the Indian school education system.
Aims
Demonstrated capacities and commitment: The program supports individuals or teams who have already demonstrated certain capacities. They must also show serious commitment to the social/education sector.
Clear organizational objectives: The program aims to facilitate the development of stable educational CSOs.
Engagement with class/school issues: They recognize that issues outside schools and classrooms (such as those related to community, nutrition and health, etc.) are important for effective education.
Focused approach: Education requires some degree of specialized knowledge. Effective educational NGOs are often willing to go deeper into a few educational domains and disciplines.
Supportive teams: For organizations to develop and sustain over the long run, it is important to build a team of individuals with allied sensibilities and interests.
Funding Information
The financial support would amount to approximately Rs 4.8 lakhs per year. This will be paid in the form of quarterly stipends.
Duration: It would be provided for up to three years from the date of signing the MoU.
Eligibility Criteria
The organization must be in its early-stages, preferably within six months to three years of initiation.
The organization must be working to strengthen the public education system, or have concrete plans to engage with the public education system.
