Deadline: 22-Sep-2025
Are you passionate about advancing rights and visibility for PIDSOGIESC+ communities in the Pacific? This is your chance to get funding to make a real difference!
The Pacific Diverse SOGIESC and Indigenous Initiatives Fund has opened applications for organisations across the Pacific. Established by ILGA Oceania in partnership with Amnesty International Aotearoa New Zealand, the fund is dedicated to advancing dignity, freedom, and equality for all, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, or sex characteristics. Guided by values of solidarity, diversity, inclusivity, accountability, integrity, and courage, the fund aims to strengthen grassroots efforts in the region.
The grant program focuses on three main priorities. The first is decriminalisation efforts, which support legal and advocacy work to overturn colonial-era laws still in place in countries such as Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, and Tuvalu. The second is preventing regression, ensuring that hard-won rights for LGBTQIA+ communities are protected against any potential rollback. The third priority is strengthening community movements by fostering leadership, enhancing advocacy, and building capacity within Indigenous and LGBTQIA+ groups.
Support is also available for storytelling and legacy projects that preserve the histories and contributions of LGBTQIA+ and Indigenous diverse SOGIESC+ communities. This reflects the fund’s commitment to amplifying voices and securing space for future generations to thrive.
Eligible applicants are organisations based in the Pacific Islands and territories, though applicants from Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand are not included in this call. Grants will range from AUD 4,500 to AUD 13,500, offering flexible support for projects that align with the thematic priorities.
This funding window provides a vital chance for Pacific-based organisations to advance equality, protect rights, and strengthen community leadership in the region.
