The National Anti-Poverty Commission is pleased to announce the ASEAN Rural Development and Poverty Eradication Leadership Awards to recognize exemplary roles and outstanding achievements and contributions of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), civil society organizations (CSOs), and the private sector in ASEAN Member States (AMS) in the field of rural development and poverty eradication.
Objectives
- The objectives of the Leadership Awards are as follows:
- Recognize the roles, outstanding achievements and contributions of non-government organizations/ civil society organizations (NGOs/CSOs) and the private sector in the Philippines to the rural/community development, livelihood and poverty reduction of local communities;
- Encourage the NGOs/CSOs and private sector to continue and strengthen their work and contributions to rural/community development and poverty eradication in the country and, in a broader context, to the ASEAN Community Vision 2025;
- Promote inclusiveness through closer cooperation and partnerships between the government, NGOs/CSOs and the private sector in developing rural areas/communities and eradicating poverty in the country and other ASEAN Member States (if any); and
- In the spirit of promoting a people-oriented ASEAN, promote ASEAN awareness amongst the NGOs/CSOs and private sector and bring ASEAN closer to people’s hearts.
Eligible Participants
- The Awards are for NGOs/CSOs and the private sector in the Philippines with outstanding achievements and contributions to the rural/community development and poverty reduction.
Eligibility Criteria
- Interested organizations must meet the following criteria:
- National or Local Organizations – must be registered with the Philippine Council for NGO Certication (PCNC), Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) or Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a non-government organization; or must be duly recognized by any National Government Agency and/or Local Government Unit.
- Private Sector – must be registered with the SEC or Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) or Bureau of Immigration (BI);
- Must have been currently operational for at least three (3) years;
- Must be engaged in programs, activities, or initiatives that signicantly contribute to rural or community development, support disadvantaged populations, and promote poverty eradication in the Philippines (and/or in the ASEAN region, if applicable); and
- Winners from the past leadership awards are not eligible to apply.
