The World Food Programme (WFP) is calling for expression of interests to support for the Sustainable Operation of the Dakhla Regional Garden Camp near Tindouf.
The project aimed to revitalize regional gardens in the camps and continue supporting family gardens based on a demand-driven approach. The objective is to ensure local availability of fresh produce and improve beneficiary households’ access to a diversified diet through agricultural self-production.
WFP plans to use the services of an NGO working in the camps to assist the Sahrawi Department of Development in setting up a sustainable management system for the regional garden. Dakhla and aim for autonomy after two to three years.

- The Dakhla Regional Garden is revitalized using innovative and sustainable techniques.
- An agricultural support service for households wishing to develop family gardens is established, accessible and functional.
- The garden and related services, including school gardens, operate on the basis of a profitable and sustainable model thanks to a multi-year development plan.
- Ultimately, the regional garden, which has become autonomous, is transferred to the Sahrawi Department of Development. During the project, the NGO selected to support the implementation will adopt a capacity building approach based on the gradual transfer of skills. The people trained under the project must be staff from the development department and local workers in order to facilitate the exit strategy and ensure the continuity of the project even in the absence of funding.
