The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN), with support from the World Food Programme (WFP), is implementing a project in the Goascorán River Basin to strengthen the climate change adaptation capacity and resilience of vulnerable communities.
This project integrates various ecosystem-based adaptation strategies, climate risk management, and access to climate information for decision-making in local livelihoods.
The project’s main objective is to strengthen the adaptive capacities of climate-vulnerable populations located in the Goascorán River Basin of El Salvador and Honduras through integrated community-based adaptation practices and services.

Expected Results
- Community Adaptation Plans
- Development of technical training of rural extension and advisory agents and training of trainers for community leaders, small farmers and other local stakeholders in the project areas
- Application of EbA and DRR-Ab practices in the Goascorán River basin, including land restoration and soil, forest and water conservation
- Comprehensive baseline assessment of community needs and tailored climate information services
- Analysis of Early Warning System (EWS) mechanisms
Conditions
- Extensive experience (more than five years) in developing social research, projects, and information gathering in a participatory and differentiated manner, which may include studies, diagnoses, mappings, and similar processes.
- A multidisciplinary team with at least five years of experience in projects related to climate change adaptation, disaster risk management, and climate-smart agriculture.
- Experience in community consultation processes for the development of development plans, with different population groups and in conditions of climate vulnerability (communities, public and private institutions, NGOs and associations, among others)
- Proven track record in implementing projects in rural communities
- Experience in participatory methodologies.
