Deadline: 11-Aug-2025
The SBI Foundation (SBIF) is seeking to engage registered non-profit organizations in India that have relevant experience in supporting women involved in commercial sex work and implementing livelihood interventions for women.
The objective is to invite proposals from potential grantees with a strong track record in executing women empowerment projects. These projects are expected to address key issues faced by vulnerable women and provide sustainable solutions for their upliftment.
There are two main areas under which proposals are invited. The first focuses on working with women involved in commercial sex work, including active sex workers, retired or aging sex workers, and at-risk adolescent girls vulnerable to commercial sexual exploitation. The second area involves livelihood generation for women, with a preference for those from marginalized communities such as SC, ST, widows, single women, landless women, persons with disabilities (PwDs), those below the poverty line (BPL), and survivors of trafficking and sex work.
Each intervention will receive funding ranging from ₹0.25 crore to ₹2 crore. The support period for the projects will range between 2 to 3 years, depending on the scope and nature of the work.
For the first intervention, project locations are expected to be red-light areas across India, with preference given to regions in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Delhi. For the second intervention, proposals should focus on metropolitan and tier-two cities, or regions lacking last-mile connectivity.
All proposals must be submitted in English. Organizations must have a minimum of three years of relevant experience in either livelihood generation for women or working with women in commercial sex work.
Applicants must also provide a self-declaration stating that they do not discriminate based on race, religion, gender, disability, sexual orientation, or any other status protected by law. Additionally, the applying organization must not be blacklisted by any government or public agency and must submit a declaration to this effect from an authorized signatory.
The SBI Foundation will monitor the implementation and require monthly or quarterly progress reports to ensure proper execution and transparency throughout the project lifecycle.
