Deadline: 31-Aug-2025
The Global Resilience Partnership (GRP) has launched the Technology for Evolving Challenges in Humanitarian Contexts (TECH) 4 Resilience Challenge to identify and scale applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) that enhance or optimise humanitarian preparedness and response programmes.
The focus is to address and mitigate the effects of extreme climate events in emergencies, strengthen and improve Anticipatory Action (AA) frameworks in emergencies, enhance the resilience of the most vulnerable communities to climate shocks and stresses while driving sustainable livelihoods and economic growth, prioritise locally led innovations that build the resilience of women and youth (>50% beneficiaries women or youth), and promote bold and transformative ideas that promote resilience, preserve ecosystems, and create sustainable economic opportunities for communities.
The challenge is open to both nonprofit and for-profit registered organisations, local entrepreneurs, and innovators implementing in low- and middle-income countries eligible for Official Development Assistance (ODA) as defined by the OECD-DAC, excluding Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and the Crimea Region of Ukraine. Applicants must present AI-driven solutions that are innovative, scalable, and impactful, addressing humanitarian needs through predictive, locally grounded technologies. Solutions should demonstrate gender, equity, and human rights considerations and ensure no harm to communities.
Selected winners will receive up to USD 50,000 in funding, along with tailored mentoring, monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) support, communications assistance, and participation in a virtual Leadership Academy. Winners will also be connected to potential funders and partners from GRP networks, receive incubation support, and have opportunities for resource mobilisation and investment pitches. The mentoring phase will refine project viability, scalability, and resilience impact, ensuring readiness for sustainable implementation.
Shortlisted projects will be contacted on 30 September 2025, with winners announced and contracted in November or December 2025. Implementation, mentoring, and support will run through December 2026.
