The International Labour Organization (ILO) is seeking applicants for its 2016 Global Media Competition “Breaking Stereotypes on Labour Migration” with an aim to recognize exemplary media coverage on labour migration by encouraging professional journalists.
Professional journalists are invited to submit one piece of their work to one of the two following categories:
- written articles (online or print articles)
- videos/multimedia
Prize Information
- Two winners will be selected in each category; and each winner will receive a prize of $1000.
- Winning entries will be featured on ILO website and widely promoted as an example of good journalism.
Eligibility Criteria
- It is a global competition so any journalist from any country is eligible to apply.
- This competition is open to professional journalists who are 18 years of age and older.
- All professional journalists are invited to send a written article that does not exceed 2000 words, or video/multimedia with a maximum duration of 5 minutes, that addresses labour migration related issues.
- A submission in any language is welcome. However, an English, French or Spanish translation should be included if parts of the submitted material are in a language other than English, French or Spanish. Translation must be faithful to the original meaning. The English, French or Spanish version will be the one judged.
- Participants are responsible for the quality and appearance of their submission. The judges will make their decisions based on how it appears on a computer screen. No responsibility can be taken by the organizers for entries that are incorrectly submitted
