The UN Women in collaboration with the School of Data and Data against Feminicide invites applications from researchers, journalists, and gender advocates to conduct a femicide research in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to support research on femicide in these countries by developing a joint methodology for Central Asian countries based on the experience of Kyrgyzstan and international practice.
Studying femicide is crucial for uncovering and understanding systematic violence and discrimination against women and contributes to the development of effective strategies to prevent such crimes and ensure women’s safety.

Cost Covered
- All costs associated with participation in the workshop and conducting the research will be covered by the organizers.
Who can participate?
- Applications are open to researchers, journalists, gender rights advocates and defenders, representatives of women’s NGOs and civil society organizations. You can take part either individually or as a team. It is important to meet the following criteria:
- Be over 18 years of age.
- Have expertise or interest in gender issues.
- Have experience with research or media publications.
- Commit to participate in a four-day workshop on May 23-26, 2024 in Almaty, Kazakhstan
- Commit to conduct the research within two months from June to the end of July 2024 upon receipt of the grant.
Languages
- The webinar, workshop and mentorship will be provided in Russian language. The research can be prepared in Kazakh, Tajik, Uzbek or Russian languages.
