Is your master’s project about freedom of expression, public debate or journalism? The Fritt Ord Foundation has announced scholarships for master’s projects that address freedom of expression in a legal sense and/or culture of expression in a broader, cultural sense.
The scholarship can also be awarded to projects addressing the role of technology in freedom of expression, as well as the experiences of minorities and other social groups with freedom of expression.
The scholarship amount is 40,000 kroner. It can be used for general student support or for specific expenses such as travel, research, and data collection. Projects requiring support for these specific expenses will be given priority.
To apply for the stipend, you must submit an application that includes the project title, problem statement, methodology, theoretical perspectives, a project description, a CV, transcripts, and a recommendation from your supervisor. The application must be submitted through the Fritt Ord’s application form. The applications are processed by the Fritt Ord’s administration and board. The application deadline for 2025 was September 12.
