Deadline: 17-Aug-2025
The Project for the Support of Investigative Journalism in Lebanon, funded by Expertise France and the European Union, and implemented by CFI, the French media development agency, has launched a new call for projects. This initiative aims to support investigative reports that focus on public governance and transparency issues in Lebanon.
The main objectives of the project are to promote transparency and integrity in public governance, combat corruption in public procurement, and enhance accountability and public policy discussions. The project also seeks to foster public debate, raise awareness, and improve access to information by making investigative journalism more accessible to citizens.
Priority will be given to investigations addressing public procurement at national and local levels, the implementation of anti-corruption laws, corruption in the public sphere, and broader transparency and governance issues.
A total of €48,000 is available for this call. Grants for media outlets or organizations range from €5,000 to €10,000. Individual journalists working with one or more media outlets can receive between €2,500 and €4,500.
Eligible direct costs must occur during the project implementation period and meet several criteria, such as being necessary, verifiable, and compliant with tax and accounting standards. Costs must also reflect principles of sound financial management.
Certain costs are not eligible, including debts, land purchases, taxes (unless non-recoverable VAT is proven), and costs covered by other programs.
To qualify, applicants must be legally registered media outlets, organizations, or journalists. They must be directly responsible for project planning and implementation. All proposed projects must be carried out within Lebanon.
