The Journalismfund Europe has launched its Fossil Fuel Grants Programme aimed at cross-border teams of professional journalists and newsrooms. The program supports investigations that uncover unreported activities of European fossil fuel companies and their proxies both within Europe and beyond.
It also welcomes projects comparing industry activities or policies across two or more regions. Stories produced must be published in at least two outlets from two different countries, with at least one being a European media outlet.
The total funding available for supported investigations is €60,000. The grant can cover working time and various expenses including logistics, travel, insurance, legal support, translations, and access to technology or data sets.
Eligibility is open to cross-border teams of at least two professional journalists and/or news outlets. Proposals should focus on environmental issues related to Europe.
