Deadline: 14 November 2025
The Durban Film Office is accepting applications for its Micro-Budget Film Programme to support local emerging filmmakers and encourage the production of content to stimulate the development of local film industry.
This initiative provides a significant opportunity for upcoming creatives to turn their vision into reality by offering financial and institutional support tailored to the early stages of their careers.
By encouraging the production of feature-length Made for TV films, the programme not only boosts local filmmaking but also helps develop sustainable and marketable projects that reflect regional talent and storytelling.
The Durban Film Office’s approach emphasizes inclusivity and accessibility, ensuring that promising filmmakers with limited resources can still access meaningful production opportunities.
The Micro-Budget Film Fund offers R350,000.00 for production of a feature length film to three projects. The programme seeks to develop a local model and brand of Made for TV films that is cost-effective, practical, and commercially viable.
The Durban Film Office defines ’emerging filmmaker’ as having acquired some experience producing a work which has earned industry or public attention, and is aspiring to write, direct or produce feature film length works.
The deadline for applications is 14 November 2025.
