Deadline: 12-Sep-2025
The Amani Africa Media and Research Services invites professionals to its fifth Training Institute on the African Union, scheduled for October 16 to 18, 2025, in Addis Ababa.
At a critical juncture marked by new leadership and shifting global dynamics, this immersive three-day program offers timely insights into how the AU functions and evolves.
Since its inception in 2019, the Institute has remained a sought-after learning platform, equipping participants with both strategic understanding and practical skills. This year’s session promises to deepen engagement with the AU’s institutional structures, decision-making processes, regional integration, peace and security architecture, democratic governance, and Africa’s global role. Participants will explore not just how the Union operates on paper, but how to navigate its mechanisms effectively.
Led by seasoned policymakers, practitioners, and scholars, the training brings together diverse experience and expertise for an enriching learning environment. Attendees will gain the tools needed to craft purposeful engagement strategies and advance policy priorities within the AU system.
Applicants are drawn from across Africa’s institutional, civil society, media, and diplomatic landscapes. This includes staff from the AU and regional bodies, foreign ministry officials, accredited diplomats, journalists covering continental affairs, representatives of Africa-based civil society organizations—particularly youth– and women-led groups—and researchers.
A limited number of partial scholarships are available to support participation. Interested candidates should send a one-page cover letter explaining how the training aligns with their work, along with a two-page resume including referees, via email.
This edition of the Amani Africa Training Institute represents an invaluable opportunity to refine one’s understanding of AU processes, bolster institutional engagement, and contribute meaningfully to Africa’s continental agenda during a period of transition.
