The European Parliament has launched the call for applications for the Daphne Caruana Galizia Journalism Prize.
The aim is to support and highlight the importance of professional journalism in safeguarding freedom and equality.
The Prize annually rewards outstanding journalism that promotes or defends fundamental principles and values of the European Union, such as human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and human rights.
An independent jury made up of representatives of the press and civil society from the 27 EU Member States and representatives of the main European Journalism Associations chooses the winning entry. The awards ceremony will take place every year around the 16th of October, the date on which Daphne Caruana Galizia was murdered.

Eligibility Criteria
The Prize is open to professional journalists and teams of professional journalists of any nationality to submit in-depth pieces that have been published or broadcast by media outlets based in one of the 27 Member States of the European Union.
