Deadline: 23-Oct-2025
The UNDP Moldova is launching a grant competition aimed at media organizations and content creators to support efforts in promoting energy efficiency, renewable energy, and smart metering across the country.
Sponsored through the Italian government, this initiative seeks to catalyze public awareness and behavioral change on energy use, highlight the benefits of newer technologies, and make climate-friendly practices more visible to the public.
Projects supported by the grants will help expand the reach of Moldova’s pilot smart metering program, which plans to install intelligent meters in tens of thousands of households and public institutions. The aim is to enable more efficient energy management, balance demand on the electrical grid, and encourage savings through use of cleaner, renewable sources in both public and residential settings.
Eligible applicants include legally registered media outlets or NGOs in Moldova with at least three years of activity and an independent editorial policy. They are expected to develop high-quality content—such as articles, multimedia, podcasts, or visual storytelling—that simplifies complex energy policies and technologies and communicates them in an engaging, inclusive, and accessible manner.
The total funding pool for the program is USD 70,000, with individual grants capped at USD 10,000. Projects will run over six months, from December 2025 through June 2026. Eligible costs include staff, production and travel expenses, as well as the promotion and dissemination of produced content.
To apply, organizations must submit an application form, detailed budget, proof of legal registration, organizational statutes, team CVs, and financial statements. Selected grantees will receive up to 80 % of funding at contract signing and the remaining 20 % upon final reporting. This call presents a timely opening for media and content creators in Moldova to engage the public in the country’s energy transition and climate action.
