Deadline: 02-Oct-2025
The Art Media grant, offered by the Mondriaan Fund, supports initiatives that stimulate engagement with and discourse on contemporary visual art in the Netherlands and the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. It is intended for platforms, curators, content creators, critics, and journalists who wish to address and share the social value of contemporary visual art from an independent and broad perspective. The grant is for written and/or spoken word publications, such as series of articles, long reads, and podcasts, published on online magazines, newspapers, social media channels, or other public platforms.
Funding is determined per application based on the budget, with the Mondriaan Fund covering up to 70% of eligible expenses. The available budget per meeting is €200,000. Grants may be fixed or flexible, with fixed grants supporting a work period of one to six months in the Netherlands or abroad at €2,255 per month, and flexible grants available for up to twelve months. The exact sum depends on the project plan, duration, and budget.
Eligible applicants include public media platforms, new initiatives, and collaborations, as well as individuals working as curators, critics, social content creators, or journalists. The planned publication must be accessible on at least one public medium with appropriate reach. Funding cannot be used for regular activities, such as continuing an existing series previously supported by the Fund, projects that are not clearly distinguishable as new, or artistic work unrelated to reflective practice. Museums, art institutions, and heritage institutions can only apply for individual productions about visual art that are not tied to their existing activities.
The grant does not cover television or film productions, artist profiles, or portraits. Applicants must comply with Fair Pay requirements.
