Deadline: 28-Aug-2025
The Publication grant from the Mondriaan Fund supports visual artists and publishers in producing special and innovative publications about the work of living visual artists from the Netherlands or the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. These publications aim to increase knowledge and dissemination of Dutch contemporary art among both Dutch and international audiences, helping to foster talent development. The focus is on works that, through content or form, contribute to the discussion of or insight into contemporary visual art.
The grant can be used for an oeuvre publication as an artist’s reflection on their work, a publication showcasing the visual results of artistic research, or a first publication about emerging talent that boosts national or international visibility. Publishers may also apply for a one-off opinion publication that reflects on an artist’s practice and contributes to shaping ideas around contemporary visual art in the Netherlands or the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.
Funding is determined per application based on the budget, with the Mondriaan Fund covering up to 35% of eligible expenses. The total available budget for this round is €181,000. Grants can be awarded to visual artists and publishers, either jointly or individually. The publication must relate to one or more living artists who are actively and professionally engaged in the visual arts within the Netherlands or the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.
Publications about historical subjects or developments are not eligible for funding. All applicants are required to comply with Fair Pay requirements.
