Nominations are open for XIII National award in the field of journalism “Oltin Kalam” that is held by the Creative Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan in conjunction with the Center for the Retraining of Journalists of Uzbekistan and a number of organizations with a view to popularizing the best achievements of national and international journalism, activating the civil position of media workers, critical-analytical thinking, as well as new approaches in the creative activity of journalists.
The competition is dedicated to the World Press Freedom Day, which is celebrated on May 3. Contest materials published in newspapers and magazines published in radio and television, as well as online publications for the year – from March 31, 2017 to March 31, 2018 – are accepted until April 10, 2018.
Prize Information
The main national award in the field of journalism. The winner is awarded with a special diploma, a breastplate “Oltin Kalam”, a statuette and a cash bonus of 200 minimum salaries.
Main prizes:
- National award for the best journalistic material (television – 1st, 2nd, 3 rd);
- National award for the best journalistic material (radio – 1st, 2nd, 3 rd);
- National award for the best journalistic material (periodicals – 1st, 2nd, 3 rd);
- National award for the best journalistic material (Internet journalism – 1st, 2nd, 3 rd).
- Winners who took 1st place are awarded with a diploma, a breastplate “Oltin Kalam”, a statuette and a cash bonus of 160 minimum salaries.
- Winners who took 2nd place are awarded with a diploma, a breastplate “Oltin Kalam”, a statuette and a cash bonus of 140 minimum salaries.
- Winners who took 3rd place are awarded with a diploma, a breastplate “Oltin Kalam”, a statuette and a cash bonus of 120 minimum salaries.
Nominations in the framework of incentive awards:
- the best material on the propagation of the culture of reading in the media;
- The best material of foreign journalists about Uzbekistan;
- The best photo essay;
- The best press service.
Winners in these categories are awarded with a diploma, a statuette “Oltin Kalam” and a cash bonus of 50 minimum salaries.
The costs associated with the holding of the “Oltin Kalam” contest and the awarding of its winners will be financed by the “Ilhom” Public Fund for the Support of Creative Persons of Uzbekistan.
National partners, representations of a number of international organizations in Uzbekistan, such as the United Nations, UNESCO, the embassies also established their incentive prizes (attached).
Conditions of the Competition:
- The competition includes television, radio, printed materials, Internet publications (at least 5 papers).
- For TV (video CD, DVD): the footage should be from 3 to 30 minutes long.
- For radio (audio CD, DVD) materials: materials should be from 5 to 30 minutes;
- For printed and Internet materials: the original (or copy) of the publication in which the material was published.
