Deadline: 27-Dec-22
The annual Story of the Year Contest is coming back for the sixth year, and the StoryShares is searching for fresh, diverse stories that are “easy to read and hard to put down.”
Categories
- Diversity Award
- Seeking culturally relevant and inclusive stories that highlight the broad range of human backgrounds and experiences. Ultimately, these stories will allow them to develop a library that is as rich and varied as humanity itself.
- Tough Topics: You Are Not Alone
- Stories are friends, safety blankets, and mentors, especially when they don’t shy away from tough topics and situations. The purpose of this contest category is to do more than generate books – it’s to be there for the vast readership and their myriad of experiences, especially those in which they are most likely to feel lost and alone.
- For Teens By Teens
- They’re looking for writers 18 years or younger to contribute their unique voices to their growing library. They want young writers to search the corners of their minds for the stories that they would want to read, so that they may bring these tales to the page for their peers.
- Cultural Connections
- Throughout history, stories have helped them to connect with and understand one another. They’ve been the windows into the great, big world around them. Entries for this category will focus on specific cultures around the world, from festivals and holidays, to folklore, to family histories, and more. They want readers to see life as it is lived in all corners of the globe.
