The course How to Cover Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery, which the Thomson Reuters Foundation will promote over a week, is a unique opportunity for Brazilian journalists to acquire skills, expand their knowledge and make reports on the subject, under the guidance of experienced journalists from Thomson Reuters Foundation and experts in the field.
With the support of the Laudes Foundation, the course combines the knowledge of experts and practical activities, with a focus on producing high impact reports and wide dissemination.
The role of the media in raising public awareness, reducing vulnerability and holding governments, legislators and companies to account will be discussed. Participants will analyze innovative approaches to combating trafficking and forced labor and coverage of migration, while also reflecting on the need for integrated policy responses across borders.
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must be Brazilian journalists, working full-time or who write regularly for media organizations in the country.
- Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to a journalistic career and have at least three years of professional experience.
- Journalists who have attended a Thomson Reuters Foundation course in the past two years will not be able to apply.
