Deadline: 10-Sep-2025
The Henry Smith Foundation is inviting applications for its Domestic Abuse Fund, which offers grants to “led by and for” organisations delivering specialist domestic abuse services. The fund aims to support groups deeply rooted in their communities, providing person-centred and holistic care for people from marginalised and minoritised communities who have experienced domestic abuse.
Through this funding, organisations will be able to continue making a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of survivors. While the Foundation does not dictate specific outcomes, applicants should demonstrate how their work contributes to long-term change for victim-survivors.
The fund offers a total of £250,000, distributed as £50,000 per year over five years. Applicants must have a strong track record, with at least three years’ experience in providing specialist domestic abuse services. They should have a deep understanding of the intersecting needs of survivors from underrepresented communities, be well embedded locally, and have staff with the expertise to offer safe, effective support.
Organisations should provide in-depth, consistent, and ongoing assistance that adapts to individual needs. The Foundation will not support short-term interventions or helplines; instead, they expect steady, trusted support available whenever needed. Services must be person-centred, with one-to-one support such as casework forming a core part of the approach, giving individuals choice and control.
A holistic model is encouraged, addressing a wide range of needs through services like counselling, safe housing, immigration advice, and practical help. Where needs cannot be met directly, organisations should work in partnership to connect survivors with appropriate support.
Eligibility requires that the organisation is “led by and for,” delivers specialist domestic abuse services, and is a registered not-for-profit with charitable purposes, such as a charity, CIO, or CIC. The organisation must have published its first annual accounts, hold a safeguarding policy, and primarily operate in the UK. Those with an active Henry Smith Foundation grant may only apply if in their final year.
